Who is it for?
A Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course is intended for non-medical professionals:
- For people in charge and for whom medical care is a secondary responsibility
- To be able to be good assistants to highly trained rescuer medical personnel
- For People with outdoor skills to be better participants and/or lead modest trips
- This class helps the first aid trained to become the care giver who can improvise in an emergency
- Help individuals traveling in remote areas to better care for family, themselves and friends.
- The 16 hour WFA course presents knowledge with an emphasis on practical skills and drills.
What is it?
The WFA is commonly taught as a 20 hour course with an emphasis on practical skills and drills.
Focus is on:
- Performing a basic physical exam to identify obvious injuries or abnormalities, assessing basic aid
- Training beyond city first aid where no others are coming to help especially with disasters
- Learning how to improvise where you are without option of hospital care.
- Performing a basic physical exam to identify and treat injuries and illness
- How to obtain a relevant medical history with vital sign and report to medical personal
- Becoming aware of hazards to prevent accidents and medical problems by anticipating the activity and environment.
- Treatment of fractures, soft tissue injuries, small to large wounds and spine issues
- Preventing and treating environmental problems including heat, cold, lightening and near drowning

Chen Zhen Yi, Master Instructor
- She has 10 years of experience in outdoors, first aid and leadership
- He has the following certification and experience: Sports / rock climbing, PADI Open water diver, Jungle Survival Course, Kayaking, The Leadership Challenge and ACCT Challenge Course Manager
- ACTA certified
- Started teaching WFA first since 2015.
